A rumor published by DigiTimes suggests that HD prices will drop by about 10% at the end of the month. The hard drive supply is recovering and the Q2 2012 production is about 17% lower than Q3 2011.
For the third quarter 2012 the supply will recover completely. Prices will remain higher than the previous year but the launch of Windows 8 could aid the market and bring the costs down.
I expected a faster recovery rate but it seems Thai floods compromised the supply chain too much. Anyway only a few months and we will see reasonably priced HD.
