Intel discovered a bug in the SandForce SF-2281 controller, equipped by its SSD 520: it doesn’t work with AES-256 encryption while AES-128 runs flawlessly. The problem is important for enterprise custmoers and Intel has plenty of them.
Furthermore, the bug isn’t addressable with a firmware update: there’s no way to fix it. So the Santa Clara-based colossus launched a return program for unsatisfied customers.
This isn’t a good news for SandForce. It seems that only a few consumer drives were released without bugs.
